Diese Arbeit ist während meinem halbjährigen Studienaufenthalt in New York entstanden. In der Bronx entdeckte ich auf einem Spielfeld für American handball die Spuren und Details eines alten Graffitis auf einer weissen Markierung. Fasziniert von dieser Oberfläche ist meine eigene Kartografie entstanden mit einer Serie von 59 Playgrounds in den Stadtbezirken Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island und Queens. Dieses populäre Spiel wird mit einem kleinen Gummiball Big Blue gespielt.
I developed this project during my half-year fellowship in New York. On a court for American handball in the Bronx, I discovered traces and details of an old graffiti on a white mark. As I was fascinated by this surface, I developed my own cartography with a series of 59 Playgrounds – handball courts in the city boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Staten Island and Queens. This popular game is played with a small rubber ball called Big Blue.
